Assuring the structural and surface quality of our products is an absolute priority for Trafilspec ITS. We invest constantly in the most advanced non destructive control (NDC) technologies, and integrate them into our production processes.
We test our bar and coil products as required by the most stringent international standards and the specific requirements of our clients.
We employ the following main methods:
Defectomat
Eddy current control using static coils placed around the material that identifies the transverse point defects typical of steel bar and wire.
Circograph
A system that uses rotating probes to identify longitudinal surface defects, on both coils and bars.
Phased Array Ultrasound
A high precision volumetric analysis using multi-element probes which identifies discontinuities inside the material.
Anti-Mixing Control
A magneto-inductive technique used to assure that production lots are uniform and prevent identification errors.
All controls are run by qualified staff following validated procedures to assure completely reliable, traceable and repeatable results.
This infrastructure enables us to:
ensure rigorous conformity with industrial standards (including automotive, aerospace, oil & gas);
increase the safety in use of the finished part;
support our clients in the certification and homologation of their products.
Our integrated approach to quality, combined with our cutting edge technologies and well-established know-how, represent yet another distinctive element of our “steel know-how“. The controls are run in conformity with UNI EN 10277-1:2018 or the client’s specifications.

Note that a defect value of “0” is not envisaged since absolutely reliable control systems are not currently available.
